Safety Tips
Stay safe every time you buy or sell on Open Bazaar.
Open Bazaar never asks for payment
We do not process transactions. If anyone claims to be from Open Bazaar and asks for money or OTPs, it is a scam. Report it immediately at safety@open-bazaar.com.
Meet in a public place
- Choose a busy, well-lit location — a mall food court, petrol station, or police station.
- Avoid your home address and remote locations.
- Bring a friend or family member when possible.
- Let someone you trust know where you're going.
Never pay in advance
- Always inspect the item in person before handing over any money.
- Scammers create urgency to pressure advance payments — don't rush.
- If a deal requires bank transfer before meeting, walk away.
- Open Bazaar does not process payments — all deals are directly between you and the other party.
Protect your personal information
- Use in-app messaging until you're comfortable sharing your number.
- Never share your Aadhaar, PAN, or bank details.
- Be cautious of buyers or sellers who ask for your OTP — that's always a scam.
- Verify the person via a video call before meeting if the item is high-value.
Trust your instincts
- If something feels off, it probably is. Walk away.
- Prices that seem too good to be true usually are.
- A legitimate seller won't pressure you or create fake urgency.
- Check the seller's profile — verified badges and reviews add confidence.
